My inceptive perception – Power of Social Media sites

Facebook, twitter, you tube, blogger, wiki, Flickr, MySpace, LinkedIn, Stumble Upon – there can’t be a computer literate who doesn’t know these terms. These social sites exploded their customer base with growth of internet user community and made the world a truly global village.

Their sphere of influence has made easy to disseminate information at lighting speed, scheduling events, and coordinating movements. Many social issues in the recent were brought to notice of world public which would have been buried down other wise.

These social networking sites have been developed by integrating modern technology of Web 2.0 to be highly accessible, scalable and supporting most of the information formats such as words, pictures, audio, & video.  Using these features users are now able to effectively share information among them which they have gathered by their experience. This information is termed as user generated content and is preferred most by users as they generally have following features
·         Speak the language of the common user
o   no usage of jargons
o   step by step description of the process,
o   no assumptions like ‘reader does know this concept’ are made in explanation
·         Approaches the problem at hand from the reader’s point of view and caters to wide range of enquires.
·         Provides confidence to reader about the efficiency of solution suggested, as it has all ready been tried out.
·         Last, but not least, it is free of cost.
When you are about to fill a form, generally you would be provided a FAQ. But it will not answer all your doubts, you may not understand the explanation provided over there or you might be unaware the words used in the explanation. Hence you always prefer personal guidance from your peers who have already filled or are filling their forms.

This exchange of content does not only benefit the customers but also the vendors as they help them to know what user prefers and how he prefers it. The additional cost of providing one to one support could also be reduced if active customer participation is encouraged.  As a result, vendors (especially product companies) are eyeing to tap this digital consumer market and expand their market presence.

IT service companies are poising themselves to provide these business intelligence services in SaaS model which not only needs technical expertise, but also sound understanding of the concerned industry. This internet revolution has been predicted to be the deciding factor of their future market share.

Ironies of 21st Century Life:

“X joins Y party abandoning Z”, we have seen this blaring headings often in our dailies. We then start our usual ruing discussion of the deplorable multi party system democracy and its wretched leaders. But, the same group hops company after company in the name of seeking better opportunity to expose their skills. Then why the same action by politicians is carped or why not latter is criticized?

The best way to diagnose whether you are financially sound is subscribe a SIM card, and provide the number to just one social web site which promises user privacy. The number of marketing and customer calls with epicenter concept as “Proactive loans to lynch customers” you receive thereafter shows your financial prowess.

Better way to gauge the economic inflation of a country is to compare how many non essential commodities you can purchase for the same amount to purchase a single essential commodity. For example, how many mobile calls you can make for 1 kg rice cost?

Above ironies were discovered during my practice of age old meditation technique while making eco-friendly (economic, not environment) travel by Chennai suburban trains. Feel free to share your discoveries, so that we strictly follow the software engineering principle - "Share to avoid re-invention"

From Pandavas to Punch

In movies especially that of Indian taste (Bollywood, Kollywood, Tollywood, etc), we would have seen Hero is a guy who can make ten or more guys (see, I could have used one or more, three or more, but it wouldn’t suit their Hero-ship, so had to go for ten or more!) eat dust or have free bone adjustments. We know that those stunts are not possible in real life, yet we don’t classify these movies under Fantasy Category!
How good it would be if our Nation is made up of 1 Billion Rajanikant or Sachin Tendulkar or Manmohan Singh. Hey....................., then who would be heroin of the movie? Who would be the fast bowler(oh sorry!, it is medium fast bowler) of Indian squad? Who would make scams and feed news to Media?
Yes, this question was posed to me as 10 mark essay question at my grade five English exam. Then I wrote it with motive to test my English. Now I revisit the same topic to test my understanding on Team work importance. A winning team doesn’t consist of only superior members, but it has the right mix of talent and spirit. It has been said rightly by DeAnn Hollis
The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.

In this 2011 world cup primary round match, Ireland bowled with discipline and fielded with accuracy against Bangladesh, yet they lost the match as their batting lacked luster. So, a team must be diverse with members having different skill set, qualities which when put together makes it the winning combination. If you don’t form the part of a team, it doesn’t mean you are not qualified to be part of that team; your skill doesn’t suite that team.
There is no Pandavas without Nakul and Sahadev! You need to find your elite team where your skills are at need.
Let you be the small finger, but without you the punch wouldn’t be strong enough to be noticed!
